WHO WE ARE

Beacon Youth Initiative (BYI) was established in 05th, September 2011 by group of individuals who were committed to giving their time and youthful energy to address the rapidly increasing problem of emerging diseases such as Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis, Ebola as well as other emerging diseases that has cripple the healthy state of the community and as well ignorant of some of the emerging disease which are prevalent in the area, the vision was conceived by Mr. Envoh Emmanuel Okolo.  We are registered with Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria, Ministry of Cooperative and Community Development in Nasarawa State, Ministry of Youth and Sport, Ministry of Women and Social Development and Membership Organization of World Hepatitis Alliance, World Federation against Drugs, Hepatitis B Foundation, Viral Hepatitis Roundtable (International Organization). We are governed by a Board of Trustees. We are a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Non Political, Non-Tribal, Non-Religious and Youth Oriented Organization based in Bukan Sidi Lafia local Government Area, Nasarawa state. It is situated 1km and 115km away from the state Capital and Federal Capital Territory respectively.

We work with poor, marginalized and excluded communities to promote pro- poor activities at all levels, Pro Health Activities, and Pro Education and other support for the Marginalized. We operate as enabler, Facilitators and catalyst creating space for the voice less to be embedded in pro- Health, Poor and Education policies and actions at all levels. BYI is committed in working with the poor and less privileged people in the Community. In 2011 – 2013, we started work in 7 communities within 2 Local Government. Our interventions later expanded to 12 communities in 5 local Government Areas in 2013 - 2014.

We partnered with Communities and Community Based Organizations to campaign and advocate policies and laws that address the rights of the poor and excluded people when it comes to health, education and reduction of poverty.  

 

Our funding supports for programming are derived through partnerships with Development partners as well as Aid support from Individuals who are interested in our good work in transforming the healthy situation of the poor and less privileged people in the Society.

To work collectively as youth to avert health and developmental related problems in the society through active participation/involvement in the society to provide a better, safer and healthier society for the less privilege.

 

BEACON YOUTH INITIATIVE GOAL

Our goal is to educate and enlighten the community more on the emerging diseases that they are ignorance of, the negative effects of abusing drugs/alcohol, assisting the less privilege and producing an active youth in the society which will lead to the growth and development of National and Global healthy living in the society through active participation, networking and partnering with other NGOs and related agencies for sustainable development.
